Shoot RGB Phenotyping
Understanding plant growth, development, and how plants react to the environment is of utmost importance, making plant phenotyping an essential practice. By utilizing rotational imaging techniques, shoot characteristics can be analyzed in a non-destructive, reliable and efficient manner. This approach yields valuable information about plant structure, stress resilience, potential yield, and aids in the development of better adapted plant varieties through breeding. VSI now makes the "Shoot Phenobox" platform, an high throughput (HT) open-hardware project accompanied by an open-source analysis pipeline, available to research groups interested in phenotyping but lacking the time to fabricate the open hardware themselves. Automated QR code reading enables reliable image registration within large phenotyping projects / multiple user settings. Customization of the original design is possible upon request, e.g. to image larger plants, side load plants, etc. The Phenobox is compatible with gphoto2 cameras. Source codes are open access for full control over the imaging and analysis pipeline. Contact us to discuss the application potential of the PhenoBox for your research goals!
